I have always loved the story 'The Happy Prince' which I have to admit I'd only watched as an animation when I was young.
I also always like to try and create new designs for my shop and creating a swallow was a challenge that I've been considering for a while.
I think that this items can be considered a step in a design process and before I make more I'll be making a few tweaks.
Creating the tail was a particular challenge and quite time consuming.

Full description
I've created a swallow in flight inspired by Oscar Wilde's "The Happy Prince," shown carrying a gold ribbon to represent the gold leaf given from the statue to the city's poor. Currently, this is the only one I have made, and I may adjust the design if I make more in the future. It is crafted from wool, wire, card, ribbon, and permanent ink markings. I have also added angelina fibres along the back to evoke the iridescence of the swallows plumage.
A lovely addition to any Christmas tree. For me, this decoration really captures the true spirit of Christmas.
Beak to tail it is around 10cm with a wingspan of around 14cm.
