Full description
This stained glass autumnal ginkgo biloba leaf has been made with traditional craft of stained glass, specifically Tiffany technique. I used different stained glass autumn colours shades to make this leaf from. Ginkgo biloba is one of my favourite trees and autumn leaves as it represents resilience, hope and peace.
The craft of making this glass leaf involves many time consuming stages such as sketching the design and then transferring the individual elements of the design onto carefully selected stained glass. Scoring and braking the glass are the next two phases. Sharp glass edges are then removed by electric glass grinder. Glass is washed and dried next to ensure copper foil can attach to the glass. Soldering and black patina application are the last main parts of making this suncatcher before it is cleaned and polished. The extra lines in the leaf were created with copper wire that had been soldered onto the leaf. This glass decoration can be hang in the window or on the wall by its stem.
