As a shepardess, maintenance on the sheep is paramount which involves clipping our wooly friends once a year for their comfort and welfare. Their fleeces are so warm and tacktile which inspired me to learn how to wet felt them so it becomes a useable product for all to enjoy.
I am also a huge recycler by heart and to see alot of the fleeces not being used after the sheep have finished with them seemed wrong. Hence the making of these lovely rugs.

Full description
This is a beautiful, luxurious felted Mule sheep fleece which can be used as a rug, throw or wall decor to add a bit of warmth and luxury to any home. Cream coloured, soft and fluffy to the touch. A genuine 100% reared and hand crafted product from beautiful island of Westray, Orkney.
Measures 31"x 22" approx.
Absolutely cruelty free as the sheep is still living a sheeps life on the pastures of a family run farm. The sheep are clipped every year for comfort and welfare reasons which i then hand felt using an old wet technique.
Everything used in the making of this felted fleece contains natural ingredience mainly soap, water and energy! The felting process is labour intensive but produces a tough backing to the lovely soft locks making it a versatile, tacktile and usable product.
Sheep fleece has a natural dirt resistance to it so relatively easy to maintain. Shake it outside when it gets bits in it, brush any stains away when dry. As a last resort, this fleece can be washed using a gentle wool cycle and products. Air and drip dry. Do not tumble dry.
