The sharp angles and the soft yarn could be seen to create tension within this work. Yet, in a sense, there’s movement within the rigidity of the black lines, and stasis with the soft manipulated yarn; these elements combine to create a contradictory, yet harmonised, image.

I like the contrast between the utilitarian materials and the tactility of the yarn and the method of crochet. Functional versus decorative.

The vibrant colours, contrasting lines, and the movement within the composition, combine beautifully.

This work is signed and dated on the reverse as shown in the images and is therefore an original.

Crochet work sewn onto foam board, black card backing and the canvas. Black insulation tape forming the diagonals. Black Duck tape covers the border and edging of the canvas.

Canvas measures 30cm x 30cm. Depth approx 4cm.
