I have been walking along the coastline and across the hills, inspired by the book 'Windswept' by Annabel Abbs. Now, I'm busy working up ideas developing from these walks.

I have added free motion embroidery and appliqué to an archival quality giclée print of my original textile artwork - Phacelia Fields - the original textile piece is on display in the Biscuit Factory gallery here in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The piece shows a beautiful field of Phacelia, growing below Weetslade country park. This pea like purple flower is a green fertiliser crop. It just looked stunning against the yellow grass covered hill. Working from my initial sketches, I created a piece with my hand dyed fabrics and free motion embroidery. In this version, I have added appliqué and stitch to recreate the Phacelia field at the bottom of the image. The background hill and sky are a print. Working like this means that I can offer you a version of the artwork in a smaller scale.
