The centrepiece of this striking necklace is a flower carved from Rose Quartz, with a 'rose' Swarovski crystal in the centre, hung from a gold vermeil pin.
The flower measures approximate 25mm x 10mm and is set between ten rustic, semi-translucent, Pink Tourmaline flat rectangles that vary in size and hue.
The colours range from a light, dusky pink to a deep mauve.
Each Tourmaline rectangle is separated by a tiny, 2.5mm, micro-faceted Rose Quartz bead.
The necklace continues with 6mm Rose Quartz beads, graduating to 4mm Rose Quartz.
The 6mm beads are embellished with two Swarovski 'light rose' crystals on each side, highlighted with 2.5mm gold vermeil round beads, for extra sparkle and shine.
Gold vermeil is sterling silver that has been plated with gold.
The necklace is fastened with a Tibetan, rose-design toggle clasp, with an antique gold finish.
The clasp is easy to fasten, and is nickel and lead free.

This lovely necklace measures approximately 15.5 inches (40cm), excluding the flower.

Your necklace will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a pretty organza gift bag.

Tourmaline occurs in various shades of almost every hue, and through most of history the stone has been mis-identified according to colour - the greens as emerald, pink/red as ruby etc.
In fact the name comes from the Sinhalese (Sri Lanka) words' tura mali' which translates as the stone of mixed colors
It wasn't until the 1800's that Tourmaline was recognised as a distinct mineral species.

Tourmaline is thought to strengthen the body and soul, and boost creativity.
Pink Tourmaline is thought to help calm emotional pain and loss of a loved one.

Tourmaline, along with Opal, is the birthstone for October and Libra.
I have paired these Tourmaline stones with delicate pink Rose Quartz beads and a carved Rose Quarts flower.
Rose Quartz is the stone of the Goddess of Love, Venus, the ruling planet of Libra.

Tourmaline is also the gemstone for the 8th Wedding Anniversary.
