On my belly, woodland floor,
A sight I'd never seen before
Rustling leaves, a twig snaps, crack!
A sudden flash of white and black
Beside the peanutbutter tree,
A clan of badgers spotted me
Their rumps they wriggled,
The spread they nibbled,
I held my breath trying not to giggle
One by one they showed their faces,
Posed for me, switching places
Tummies full, they licked their lips,
Then wiped their paws on their white strips
Off they toddled, at sun's last light,
Safe and warm, into the night
A cherished memory for some time to come
I'll remember them and their wiggly bums
