This ceramic, low relief, landscape, has been created by layers of coloured slip, which has been applied onto a still damp, hand rolled and cut slab of clay.
When leather hard, texture is then scraped through the slip, to start defining different areas of the composition.
After the first firing, these landscapes can be further worked into with various layers of oxides and under glazes, to create green fields, moody skies, grasses and rocks.
The near completed ceramic landscape is then dipped into a clear glaze, before a second kiln firing, giving the landscapes an overall glossy finish.
This Ceramic Landscape is 5.5 cm square and approx 1 cm thick, mounted onto an up cycled and painted wooden panel, measuring 20 x 20 cm and 1 cm thick.
This wall art comes ready to hang, the wood panel has been sealed with a layer of outdoor, satin clear varnish so is moisture resistant in a kitchen setting.
Fully signed by myself on the front and reverse.

These landscape pieces have been inspired by local sheep fields, surrounded by old woodlands and popular networks of old paths, that have existed at least since the Drovers used to drive cattle to the local Fair for selling.
An area that contains and supports a variety of Woodland animals, bird life and industrial Heritage.
Throughout the year, the changing seasons and light quality evolves, provides me with endless inspiration.
This low relief, ceramic landscape is ready to hang immediately, bringing a bit of nature into your home.
