Yorkshire Dales signed original landscape painting. Pastel over ink, on Canson Touch textured paper. "Buckden Pike Summit".

42 by 59.4 cm (approx). Unframed. Will fit a standard glass A1 frame (84.1 by 59.4 cm) with mount internal opening for A2 picture. Will be posted with protective boards and glassine cover, (see picture).

Buckden Pike is one of the highest fells in the Yorkshire Dales, standing above the village of Buckden in Wharfedale . It was a bitterly cold Icy day, but the sun was shining brightly, (one of my favourite kinds of weather for hill walking) The descent is more sheltered and we had to plough through snow drifts that came up to our waists on our way down.

In this painting, I wanted to capture the breath taking beauty of the frost covered peat, the trig, and bright ice covered bog. To share the exhilaration of standing on top of the world, watching the clouds float beneath you, feet crunching on ice and the sun on your face.

I love climbing the peaks in Yorkshire. Buckden pike is not as well know as the three peaks, but it is a magnificent climb. It forms one of the alternative three peaks, alongside BIrks and Great Whernside, walked each year to support the Mountain Rescue service in the area. In my opinion the alternative three peaks are more challenging than the other walk, (although I love that too), It is full of jelly like bogs that catch you out once you are in the middle of them. I was struck by the beauty of the ice at the summit after this climb, and had to paint it.
