I love sewing with cork fabric. It is lightweight and has a soft velvety texture making it ideal for this clutch bag. Being durable and water resistant it is also practical. The natural grain and colour variation of this fabric makes each item unique.
Cork fabric, also known as cork leather or vegan leather, consists of a layer of natural cork bonded to a fabric backing. Produced in Portugal using bark harvested from traditionally managed cork oak forests, it is a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to leather. The trees are allowed to regenerate after harvesting and can live for up to 200 years providing a haven for wildlife and supporting a traditional way of life.
