Hand carved from recycled tulip wood (yellow poplar) in Cornwall using traditional tools, this scoop is an original design and features an embedded lucite cabochon with complimentary milk paint design.

Tulip wood is found on the Eastern side of North America and due to the timber's strength is used in many applications, including furniture and joinery.

The 'humbug' lucite cabochon embedded into the scoop's rounded finial is a vintage piece and dates from the 1970's. Lucite was developed by DuPont in the 1930's and due to its clarity and strength became the material of choice for aircraft windows. Lucite jewellery became a sensation in the 1950s but had fallen out of fashion by the 1970s. This piece was made in the 1970s in West Germany.

A perfect additional to kitchen or table, the scoop has a multitude of uses. The spoon is finished with a protective coat of TopOil based on natural plant oils and waxes (sunflower oil, soya oil, thistle oil) and is food safe for humans, animals and plants and certified as suitable for use on children‘s toys.

Made with an artist's eye and a craftsman's touch, my pieces are solid and elegant. They are meant to last and be loved.

I take inspiration from both the landscape and sea where I live in Cornwall and like to create spoons and utensils that are useful in the kitchen or at table.

Care: Always hand wash your spoon with soapy water and pat dry after washing. Do not put it in the dish washer, or immerse the spoon in water for long periods of time.
