Tha beads on this choker style necklace have been hand rolled using a mixture of Earthenware and Stoneware clays.
After an initial firing, the Pottery beads are carefully painted with layers of various metallic oxides and underglaze, creating a mixture of glossy and satin finishes.
After a second firing, beads of complementing colours and textures are knotted together with black cotton chord, fastening at the back with a lobster style clasp.
This necklace measures approx 24 cm in length when fastened, three beads of approx 1.5 cm in width and comes in it's own gift box made from recycled paper fibres.

Nature is a theme that continually runs through all my work, similarly when creating this beaded jewelry range, inspiration comes from the earthy style of early man, often found in archaeological digs.
Each bead is textured and paintsd individually, sometimes carving in to the clay creating surfaces similair to stone, earth and branch like lines, selecting glazes related in nature, then knotted together to create a piece of wearable, tactile art, teaming up well with the bracelets made in similair style.
