Here is an eight piece set of hand-painted wooden nesting dolls featuring UK birds and mammals out and about in the evening. Each creature is a mini work of art.
The largest, outer piece is a tawny owl, lovingly painted in fine detail with Windsor and Newton acrylic paint. Tawny owl stands at approximately 21cm tall by 10 cm wide.
Stacking together like Russian dolls, inside the owl is a cute red fox and inside foxy is a handsome big eared bat.
Inside the bat is a stonechat bird and inside the bird is a little mole with tiny eyes.
Inside the mole is a pygmy shrew followed by a death’s head moth.
Finally is a tiny jewel like rose chafer beetle. Each little creature has been given at least 2 coats of satin acrylic varnish to protect the paint.

The smallest piece measures just 1.5 cm tall and due to this means that this item is not suitable for children.

In the beginning of lockdown, I was bought a set of matryoshka dolls and inspired by my love of nature, began to paint these sets. I fell in love with researching the different creatures and just enjoyed painting them so much!
