Gypsy is hand made in grey and white velvets, she is then hand dyed, painted and spritzed.
I love all my pieces of art to be made in a folk art, primitive style , to look old, worn and to have a history.

aprox 22 inches high

Embellished with vintage and antique finds, trinkets and elements,
A hand stitched patch that reads 'Moths in her pocket'

A hand knitted pocket foraging bag with vintage mother of pearl buttons and textile wings,
a pair of vintage haberdashery scissors hang from a ribbon from her shoulder,
A vintage mini gold frame has a hand painted moth,
She has vintage lace stitched wings and is topped with glitter and mica details.

Hi, my name is Lauren and I work as an artist full time from my Staffordshire studio.
I studied a BTEC in Art & Design, BA Fine Art and courses in textile art and pottery.

Whimsical & Curious is my collection of Textile Art and Sculpture in my Primitive, Folk Art style.

I am inspired by Magical, Folk Tales as well as the Vintage fabrics and materials I use.
I make quirky, odd, grungy primitive style art.

Gypsy the rat is one of the Forest dwelling folk living between the world of humans and Faerie in the enchanted forest.

Each creature has its own unique skills and jobs, Gypsy is of an order of Folk which look after smaller creatures than themselves.
She is mainly concerned with Moths collecting and studying them , helping them to harness the light they collect and using it in spells before setting them on their way.

Her ethereal wings help her to flutter up to help her speak to the moths.
This textile sculpture is part of a collection I am working on inspired by Folk and fairy tales, Fae enchanted tales and woods , creatures and speaking animals. Inspired by magic.
