A beautiful pendant necklace made from antique reclaimed beach pottery. This piece features the famous blue & white "willow" pattern, still gloriously vivid despite decades tumbling in the Scottish waves! The necklace has been wrapped in wire and finished with a tiny Celtic spiral. The pendant measures approximately 3.5cm high. It comes complete with a silver-plated 18" snake chain and gift box. (Item: 1992)
All the sea glass, pottery and shells used to make the necklaces are sourced from the beautiful beaches of the East Neuk of Fife in Scotland. Much of the pottery dates back to the Victorian era, when ceramic factories threw their 'seconds' into the sea and locals used to cast their broken pottery into the waves for good luck! The pottery has been gently worn smooth by the rough Scottish seas but the patterns and colours remain vibrant, a testament to the manufacturing processes of the time.
All my pendants are handmade in Cellardyke using sea glass and antique sea pottery, found washed up on the beaches in Fife. Only the most special pieces become necklaces and many have been found to date back over 100 years. Each piece is a one-off antique, all worn smooth and with their colours and patterns still vibrant, despite the rough Scottish seas! I use silver plated wire to wrap the pieces and enhance their shapes and patterns.
