The term 'buttonhole' refers to the binding technique in which the signatures, or sections, of the book are visible through an opening in the spine. The stitching mimics a buttonhole opening with long stitches securing the signatures, and visible on the outside of the spine. these features are what makes this type of binding very tactile and make a feature of the books themselves.

I can make these as large or small format, square or rectangular landscape, roughly A5 (15 x 22 cm) or square 15 x 15 cm) and in a range of colours; they can contain plain or lined paper and the sections can be plain or with rainbow / coloured spines showing through the buttonhole.
