This bowl is made from Sapele, a dark, hardwearing African wood which has been handmade on our woodturning lathe.

The dish measures 26cm across (10inches) and has been finished with food safe microcrystalline wax for a durable finish. This is ideal for use as a small fruit or snack bowl.

As with all of our wooden items, we advise against using washing detergents as these can affect the final finish. A wipe over with a damp cloth should suffice.

This bowl is made from Sapele, which is a darker hardwood that is often used for items such as window frames and fire doors. As we occasionally buy our timber from larger joinery firms, we often acquire timbers like this.

It is a nice timber to turn on the lathe and as you can see, when sanded to a fine finish and a nice final coating of wax or oil applied, Sapele is really quite a beautiful wood.
