"Little One, Come to Me" features a pair of anthropomorphic dolls - that is, animals with human characteristics. This work is a unique mixed-media sculpture - an original, quirky ornament which will bring a whimsical celebration of love, wherever it is placed!

Mummy Butterfly spreads wide her joyful wings, sharing a delightful moment with Baby Caterpillar. He comes to her with his nappy freshly pinned, offering his blankie. Their eyes meet and the love they share is palpable.

This decorative ornament is a glorious celebration of mother and child - perhaps a beautiful, unique nursery gift, a christening gift or a special first birthday present?

I have brought together clay, vintage doll parts, vintage papers and reclaimed fabric. The two figures are mounted on a sanded and oiled wooden block, which was cut from a felled branch in my garden.

The work stands approx 24cm high, 20cm across.

Please note, this unique sculpture is a collector's piece and definitely not a toy!

This piece of whimsy was made in response to the death of Eric Carle, the author of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. This was my all time favourite childhood story and I have many fond memories of reading it to my own children.

Timeless in its beauty and simplicity, I have tried to capture the essence of the joy this book brought.
