• I ship to the world so please email me for a postage quote if you are outside the UK.
• I use recycled and reclaimed wood & materials and package to be as sustainable as possible.

Carved in Cornwall, this scoop has been shaped from local alder using traditional hand tools and features four pieces of embedded ocean-tumbled seaglass in the handle and a painted bead on a leather hanging loop. The bowl's interior surface reveals the chisel marks of the original carving which produce a patterned relief when the scoop is used for serving rice.

The light-coloured wood has a light coat of Japanese wax to finish.

Made with an artist's eye and a craftsman's touch, my pieces are solid and elegant. They are meant to last and be loved.

Length: 13.3cm (5 1/4 inches)

Japanese wax is certified by the Boken quality evaluation institute of Japan to be free from voc's and heavy metals. It is safe to use on food contact items and children's toys. Bacteria growth is inhibited by wood food ingredients such as lauric acid, peppermint oil, and blood orange oil. Japanese cypress oil (hinoki) has an especially strong antibacterial effect.

I take inspiration from the landscape and ocean where I live in Cornwall and like to create spoons, using reclaimed or recycled timber whenever possible, that are useful in the kitchen or at table. This alder scoop is carved from a tree that grew in Penzance that had reached the end of its life.

Care: Always hand wash your spoon with soapy water and pat dry after washing. Do not put it in the dish washer, or immerse the spoon in water for long periods of time.
