A tall framed textile appliqué depicting a stormy day in a northern coastal town, The piece is made with appliqué and free motion embroidery, using hand dyed fabrics. I have been walking along the coastline and across the hills, inspired by the book 'Windswept' by Annabel Abbs. Now, I'm busy working up ideas developing from these walks.

As Autumn and Winter bring storms and gales to the North East coast, this image developed in my sketchbook. I was thinking of those days when you know it is going to be a wild walk but with love, friendship and the promise of a drink by a roaring fire later, you know it will be worth braving the elements to experience stormy weather in all it's power and ferocity. (The final scene shows this piece with its snowy partner - Snow Day is now sold.)
