I'm always so inspired by the flowers in my garden. In the photos you can see the original drawing from my sketchbook, done one evening in July.
Scabious flowers are such a beautiful blue that I wanted to capture the exact colour if possible, and searched through my collection of marbled papers to find just the right colours.
I create templates for each flower head and cut each one out by hand before gluing in place. I cut out the stems in one piece, which is a delicate operation then to glue and carefully place.
The final touch is the sewn border, done on my sewing machine.
