Also known as Anyolite, meaning green in the native Maasai tongue, most ruby in zoisite came originally from Tanzania.
The green elements are zoisite, the deep pink is ruby and the black is hornblende.
The ruby found in Anyolite is not of gem quality. It has a good colour, but shatters if cut.
Ruby in Zoisite is considered an alternative birthstone for Aries, April.
