A miniature textile art work made as a study for larger pieces. Hand embroidered Ragged Robin flowers sit on a ground of green fabrics and collaged paper from a vintage wildflower guidebook. The piece is framed in a small, glazed box frame measuring 10 x 10cm and 3.5cm deep. The textile itself is about 6cm x 6cm.

I have been walking along the coastline and across the hills, inspired by the book 'Windswept' by Annabel Abbs. Now, I'm busy working up ideas developing from these walks.

Wild flowers are a favourite source of inspiration for my work as a textile artist. I love the variety of colours and shapes, the stories associated with them and the fact that they are so important for wildlife and insects. I make small studies like this to inspire ideas for larger pieces of work.
