Not every one finds Snails pleasant, they can often be destructive to plants in the garden, but to the Ancient Greeks, snails let them know when crops were ready for Harvest .
Ancient Aztecs regarded them as sacred, thinking their spiral shell represented the cycle of life, and in Folklore they can be regarded as symbolic of healing and patience.
These snails are sculpted in solid clay, with a textured body, and have a pleasing weight in the hand.
Layers of deep brown/red glaze with speckles of golden brown give a smooth, glossy tortoise shell like pattern to the shell.
This art work has been fired to a frost proof temperature making it safe for outdoors but equally at home indoors, decorating a pot plant or book shelf.
Also, as the snail carries its home on its back, it would make a great House warming gift.
