Handmade Leather and Brass Dog Lead 2 Available

Handmade Leather and Brass Dog Lead

Add to basket

This handmade English Bridle leather dog lead is made with beautiful brass screws and a special leather knot called a bleed knot. The edges of the lead are shaped and roughly burnished so that it feels very comfortable to hold.

The lead is roughly 2cm wide and 1.20m long including the solid brass trigger hook. The hand loop is a nice and roomy 20cm long and has a handy brass dee ring for attaching poo bags, tying your dog to something or making into a loop to go across your chest when your dog is off the lead. The lead is made with leather that is 4mm thick so this is very strong and tough and will stand up to years of use and abuse. Although please note it is not resistant to dog chewing!

The leather is from Britain’s only remaining oak bark tannery. Oak bark tanning is an ancient process that uses local hides and natural products to produce leather in a sustainable way resulting in one of the strongest and best quality leathers in the world.

All the metal work is solid brass and made in the UK.

Your lead will be wrapped in recycled and recyclable tissue paper and sent in a plastic free and recyclable cardboard envelope to ensure it arrives in tip top condition. It will come with a Leather Care Guide leaflet and information on the tanning process.

I was inspired to make this lead by a little leather-working book I bought in Australia that featured a ‘No Stitch’ horses bridle made using no stitching at all. I was fascinated that you could just use knots! So I decided to pair a bleed knot with brass screws for a very stylish and practical lead.
