This ceramic, low relief, has been created by multi layers of coloured slip, which must be applied when the clay is still damp.
When leather hard, texture is then scraped through to start defining the various areas of the image.
After a first firing, the the landscapes are worked into with various oxides and coloured under glazes, to create moody, cloudy skies, grasses and skylines.
The near completed picture is then dipped into a clear glaze, before a second kiln firing giving the art work a glossy finish.

This ceramic landscape is 5.5 cm square and 1 cm thick, mounted on up cycled wooden frame, which has been painted and varnished, measuring 20 20 cm and 1 cm thick.

These landscape art works, are inspired by my local coastline, home to a RSPB site, one of two Nature Reserves in the area.
The Inner Forth has many layers of history, combined with nature and industrial heritage, providing a home to many animals and birds, such as migrant and wintering Wild Fowl, Shelduck, Pink Footed Geese and Waders.
