I'm a breastfeeding mother. And breastfeeding was really really hard work. From the sleepless nights, engorgement, pain, mastitis, loss of control over my own body and general exhaustion - whilst throwing in an absolute terror of someone saying something negative to me whilst feeding in public - this pin design is something close to my heart. I had a few negative experiences - luckily I felt better able to cope with them, but I know has this happened when my eldest child was born and the postnatal depression was rife, I'd have really struggled. I also had some very lovely experiences. From a mother cutting up my food, getting me a drink and telling me what a great job I was doing, to an elderly woman telling me what an incredible Mama I was - I really needed those words of encouragement from other women, at a time I felt particularly vulnerable.
