I have been working on collages of poppy seed-heads, and this exploration, using different greens was the next step.
My work inspired by the seed-heads began with painting deli paper (waxed paper) and for this one I chose to use all the shades of green on a kraft brown paper background.
The cut out seed-heads are machine sewn in place, then this square was glued to the khadi (cotton rag) paper background before the hand sewing finishes it off. Finally the border is machine stitched.
I find sewing by hand very therapeutic, calming and mindful, much more so than sewing with the machine.
