This medium-sized storage basket has been made using a vintage linen fabric called 'Sari' from the 1980s by the design house GP & J Baker, featuring exotic birds and blooms in post-box red and lime green on a pale green background.

The inner fabric is an exquisite and rare vintage 'Turkey Red' cotton fabric with a Paisley design in gorgeous shades of red, green and yellow.

The basket has been trimmed with a velvety, bright-red pom-pom braid.

Both fabrics have been interfaced to provide good structure to the basket, although it can be collapsed flat if required.

The basket measures approximately 20 cm high, 26cm wide and 15 cm deep.

I just love this beautiful rare fabric used to line this useful basket. Its heritage is Scottish where, in the Vale of Leven in 1785, and throughout the Industrial Revolution with advances in printing and production techniques, they started to produce these 'Turkey Red' prints using Madder Red dye. I bought this rare piece of stunning Turkey Red' Paisley fabric from someone in Scotland who had kept it in perfect condition in a drawer since the late 1950s/ early 1960s - don't you just love that!

This basket would look perfect sitting on your chest of drawers in order to store all those cosmetic bottles in one tidy, good to look at space!

The basket will be posted flat, inside a fully compostable cellophane sleeve, but can easily be returned to its full capacity by a gentle press of the hands on both sides!
