Item details

A petite pair of handcrafted earrings, painted with a single black brushstroke across the centre. The porcelain tiles are then painted with transparent glaze which increases the contrast. They are fixed to a sterling silver stud backing.

Welcome to my Shop! Every piece here is unique, one of one.

I work with porcelain and stoneware from my small studio in London. My work is hand-built, then painted with slips and underglazes using brush strokes and splatters which are not entirely abstract. Most pieces are glazed in a transparent gloss which draws out the colours and contrast.
At present I am learning to 'raw glaze' so each piece only goes through firing once, rather than twice, thus reducing the carbon footprint! Ask me if you'd like to see this raw glazed work.

In making this set of 'cut tile' earrings I was seeking to explore the possibilities using simple brushstrokes to echo the style I use on larger pieces, but with a nod to fashion and fabric design. The set was fun to style. I hope people will enjoy the somewhat irregular shapes and the freedom of brushstrokes.
