I like to use recycled materials for my craft projects. This item was cut and handcrafted from the leather offcuts from a saddle maker that was destined for landfill.
I seal all my leather on completion but as with all leather dyed products dye can leak if it becomes very wet.
Hand-dyed leather even when natural oil is applied to the leather before dying can feel stiff at first. However, the leather will soften with wear and use and will quickly lose its stiff feel and take on a unique patina.
