A stoneware vase that is dark red where the glaze is thick and white where thinner. It was made with a UK stoneware and, after biscuit firing and glazing the piece was fired to 1300C to make it impermeable and durable. The vase is dishwasher safe and measures approximately 22cm tall and 7cm wide. The bottom is impressed with my seal, the letter P, and the identity number 9904.
I enjoy making thrown red vases because I am told by returning customers that they become established domestic focal points. I want to engage with people by providing them with something thoughtfully handmade that fits easily into their home decor. My interest in this challenging type of glaze derives from previous technical research on high temperature materials and processes and an admiration of early Chinese Song dynasty wares.
