This is my original handmade quirky statement bib necklace. This necklace is trying to make a statement about endangered Sea Turtles & our wasteful use of plastics in our oceans & on our beaches.

I used my cute Murano glass sea turtle that I purchased on the island of Murano several years ago & is a genuine vintage piece of Murano glass. Mixed this with remnants of Cream Silk Dupion that I re-purposed from my scrap bag along with some blue plastic from my recycling bag. The cream silk represents the beach & interspersed are genuine dried seaweeds that I collected from a beach in Sardinia. Some small shell beads & sequins add a sprinkle of texture & interest.

Constructed on a 2mm wire & threaded coated cotton necklace string to continue the bohemian & natural look of this lovely piece.

Sea Turtles are beautiful & gentle creatures. I have seen them first hand through a glass bottom boat on a greek island. It broke my heart when I watched TV & saw lovely sea turtles (who are already endangered & struggling to survive) being untangled from polluting plastics, caused by humans in our oceans.

This necklace seeks to make a statement about this issue & is constructed from recycled & re-purposed materials.
