Shop Announcement:

To try to reduce the environmental cost of my shop all my packaging is biodegradable. Where I use bubble wrap it is reused from other sources. I double box most of my pottery to ensure safe delivery, where I can I will reuse boxes for the external box, so please excuse old stickers on these.

Thanks so much for your support, Kate

Large mug handmade stoneware pottery Gardom's Blue-green glaze

Large mug handmade stoneware pottery Gardom's Blue-green glaze
Love this

Handmade pottery thrown on my potter's wheel. This ceramic mug is made from stoneware which means it is very durable. The clay gives a biscuit speckled colour which shows through the white glaze inside and there is Gardom's blue-green on the outside.

The cup is first thrown then left until it is leather hard, then turned and the handle is added as well as my makers mark. Once dry it is bisque fired then 2 glazes are applied and it is fired again to 1220 oC. All glazes are lead free.

Height of mug about 10 cm
Diameter base about 9 cm
Capacity about 400 ml

This listing is for 1 mug, all mugs are handmade and although I make the mugs in small batches with the same amount of clay and glaze there will be some variation in colour and shape.

Where possible I will use recycled packaging to post pottery but never at the risk of damage to the pot.

Much of my inspiration comes from the natural environment. I'm lucky enough to live on the edge of the Peak District and the grit stones edges that dominate the landscape. The texture of this rock attracts climbers from around the country.
I love the contrast between the exposed clay like the grit crags and the silky feel of the glaze. The lines between them also capture some of the landscape colour contrasts.
