Item details

This is Dumbarton Castle on Dumbarton Rock, West Dunbartonshire, Scotland. This volcanic plug has the longest recorded history of any Scottish fortification, first settled in the Iron Age. Positioned where the river Leven enters the river Clyde, its strategic importance is obvious: it would be possible for raiders to sail right up the Leven into Loch Lomond.

I am deeply interested in Scotland's history, wildlife, and landscapes. I enjoy taking photographs and then digitally altering them, and I hope that you find this new, slightly skewed perspective intriguing!
