This ring is handmade from 1mm thick sterling silver sheet and 2mm thick sterling silver D-shaped wire. Before cutting and shaping the silver sheet is reticulated. Reticulation involves heating the silver until it becomes almost molten, then quickly removing the heat and placing the silver in cold water. The silver then contracts unevenly, creating a crinkle, and unique, appearance. The reticulated silver is then cut, filed and shaped into a band ring. The D-shaped wire is cut, filed and shaped into two band rings. The three 'rings' are then soldered together to make one ring. The finished piece is then polished.
The finished ring weighs approximately 10g and is approximately 1.5cm wide. It is a lovely 'chunky' piece of jewellery and looks great worn on either a finger or as a thumb ring.
This ring is a UK size 'O'.
This ring has been hallmarked by the Sheffield Assay Office and carries my unique makers mark.
