On December 5, 2021, the traditional weaving of the Ecuadorian toquilla straw hat was included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Intangible cultural heritage designates practices and expressions transmitted from generation to generation, such as oral traditions, performing arts, social uses, rituals, festive events, knowledge and practices related to nature and the universe, and knowledge and techniques related to traditional crafts.
In Ecuador, the Carludovica palmate or paja toquilla is grown and harvested on the Ecuadorian coast, where there are several artisan centers of toquilla straw weaving such as Jipijapa and Montecristi.
However, this activity has also flourished in the southern Ecuadorian highlands and since the mid-19th century, becoming an important source of income for many families in the provinces of Azuay and Cañar.

Standard delivery by Royal Mail to Europe and European Union Countries will be 7-10 days depending on the Country. Delivery to the USA, Canada, and Australia can be from 7 -15 working days. Delivery to Japan, Arab Emirates, China, Brazil, and the rest of the world maybe 15-25 days depending on the Country. Packages are sent via Royal Mail UK and do not automatically come with a tracking number.
