Inspiration
Who can resist these delightful visitors to our gardens. There is a tall hazel tree in a hedgerow that surrounds our paddock .At dusk, the top branches are a favourite spot for one particular robin to perch and sing his heart out.
Not only do they have a beautiful song of course but they also have such a striking appearance, a delight to paint.
I began with watercolour but used pens, pencils and a touch of gouache to add form and movement to the composition. Finally I added splashes and paint flecks to bring the picture together and add a bit of fun.
