Item details
This piece was inspired by the iconic architecture of the Jewellery Quarter some of which have been there for hundreds of years, others that are much more modern. I created the original using intaglio collagraph printing technique, which gives a very similar effect to etching.
About the original printing technique: Collagraph is a cost-effective technique which essentially just requires a scalpel and a sheet of mount-board. You score into mount-board allowing you to be very detailed, you can also peel back the top layer of the board on certain segments that you wish the ink to cling to most.
The card design process: I scan my original prints and uploaded them to a card design website. They are printed on thick 340g/m2 matte card.
