This piece shows the Simonside Hills in Northumberland on a warm Summer day. Made with hand dyed fabrics and free motion embroidery it is box framed in black. It measures 34.5 x 34.5 cm.

I have been walking along the coastline and across the hills, inspired by the book 'Windswept' by Annabel Abbs. Now, I'm busy working up ideas developing from these walks.

The walk up Simonside and along the top path, what an adventure - it's beautiful in any season, just the right amount of challenge scrambling up the rocks, then the views from the top - all the way to the sea on a clear day! But to go there in summer, striding out along the path and hearing the Skylarks calling out of the blue, well, that is just a perfect day don't you think?
