I recycled this pouch out of a remnant of furnishing fabric from my brother's recent curtain re-think and lined it with cotton from a pale blue shirt. The furnishing fabric is a mixture of different colours and embroidered patterns in orange, green, turquoise and blue on a sand coloured linen base. I've cut the design so it has a base and it fastens at the top with a matching teal zip.
You can use these pouches for loads of different things. I use mine to bring some sort of order to all the flotsam and jetsam that swills around in the bottom of my bag. Make-up, travel cards, credit cards, odd coins, iPods, lipsticks etc. This larger size with the base is good for gadgets or (if you are very efficient and neat with little bottles of things) for going away at weekends.
Because each of my pouches started as something else (a wool kilt, a tweed jacket, a cotton shirt) they come with a unique numbered card that shows what they used to be, and where they came from – a sort of pouch birth certificate. All fabrics are machine washed before the stitching starts, so you can put this in the washing machine on a gentle wash when necessary.
approx. size 16 cm high by 18 cm wide, expanding to 22 cm at the base
with a base of 6 cm by 19 cm
