A unique stoneware vase, with it's elegant shape would make a great gift for flower lovers.
I made the vase on the potter's wheel and turned a foot ring at the base. l turned four lines at the base of the vase into the body and loosely painted a peony flower design on the outer surface, using stains and coloured slips. Added texture was made when I incised through the slip. The inside surface is left plain.
I fired the vase when dry to 950 c then applied a wash of oxide to pick up the textures in the marks, dip glazed in a green celadon glaze before firing again to 1240 c
The size of this vase is height 11 cms x 8 cms diameter
The vase is dishwasher proof although hand washing is always best to prolong the glaze shine.
I will post the vase on receipt of payment. It will be wrapped very carefully using recycled packing materials wherever I can to help the environment.
Thank you for taking time to look at my shop.
Finding a garden full of peony flowers all in bloom at Drumlanrig Castle Scotland were the inspiration for this vase. Many were double blooms and the centers were greatly textured which is what inspired me in my creativity.
