Item details
During a visit to Drumlanrig Castle in Scotland, an abundance of peony flowers there inspired me to draw them. The vast amount, all different varieties of peony flowers, most of which were in full bloom. Many of them were double blooms and the textures were just amazing.
It was the textures which led my creativity in the decoration of the vase. Using mark making and painting loosely in slips and stains and incising marks into the clay.
The designs I made led me to make a series of ceramics based on the peony flowers.
