A unique stoneware bowl, a great functional center piece for any dinner party or a statement piece of art
I used a white stoneware clay to make this dish, thrown on the potter's wheel. I turned a neat foot ring underneath, which is where you will find my signature 'by les' stamped into the clay body before I fired the piece.
The abstract flower design is painted loosely in coloured slips which stand proud of the surface and stains with incised lines and tones.
Following the first firing to bisque temperature in my electric kiln, I dip glazed the piece in a green celadon glaze. I then fired the bowl again in my kiln at 1240 degrees centigrade.
Size of the bowl is: Height 6.5 cms x 20 cms diameter approximately
The glaze is lead free.
The bowl is dishwasher proof, although hand washing is always best to prolong the slip trailing and the glaze shine.
I will post the bowl on receipt of payment, making sure the piece is wrapped very carefully, I use recycled packaging materials when ever I am able, to help the environment.
Thank you for taking time to look at my shop.
During a visit to Drumlanrig Castle and seeing the many varieties of peony blooms most in full bloom, I was fascinated by the textures and delicate petals which inspired my drawing and mark making.
