Scoop or Spoon excellent for serving vegetables, pasta puddings. Hand carved in Alder from the Ashdown Forest with a rich orange flecked with burgundy grain. Super comfy in your hand with a broad handle that's great to get hold of firmly. An excellent addition to the cutlery drawer and with a handy hole for hanging as it's such a decorative unique utensil. Fully washable and perfect for daily use. Seasoned with organic flax oil and the colour will become richer with age and use...

Measures approximately 8 inches (20cm) long and 2.5 inches (6.5cm) wide. Handle width is 1.25 inches (3cm).

Alder is one of those woods I get in fits and starts - mostly from the old Gunpowder Mills in Waltham Abbey. This piece of Alder had fallen down the back of my work bench and I recognised it from the flecking immediately as a chunk left from a demonstration of Pole Lathe turning I did in the Ashdown Forest about 15 years ago! it's the only time I've been there and the Alder there has a totally different grain to that of my local woods at the Mills so very easy for me to identify - it's to do with the growing conditions and type of soil. So I spent a most pleasurable time, remembering a fantastic show and all the great folks I met whilst carving this beautiful useful kitchen tool...
