A wood block print made using a real piece of oak wood, in black ink.
made with real wood
10.5x14.5 cm / 4x6 inches
This beautiful little print was made using a piece of oak wood taken from a fallen tree in Birmingham, UK. It shows the delicate growth rings, earliest in the centre, moving out towards the outer bark. I chose to use simple black oil ink as the beauty of the natural wood requires no further decoration!
Please note that each print is slightly different owing to the method of printing, i.e. a manually produced print, not a digital print, and will as such differ slightly to the listing images.
In an effort to reduce waste, your print will not be packaged using plastic film, but will arrive in a plain hard-backed envelope. Please note that this is an unframed print.
Second class postage is included in the UK.
I love experimenting with techniques and wanted to try producing prints from real wood. The growth rings and outer bark are clearly visible, with all their little nodes and faults, which I think is just beautiful.
