The idea for these portraits came about from a fear of painting faces! I painted a picture of my best friend, and was afraid to ruin it by messing up her facial features. So I left it faceless...and she loved it! She commented on how much like her it looked and felt without the need for facial expression. So it became a thing and stuck.
