This really useful shelf is adjustable so you can fix it on the inward sloping side of a narrowboat cabin wall or on the outward sloping side of the hull under the gunwale. First screw it in place, then tilt the shelf so that it is horizontal and screw in position (screws are provided). The shelf itself is 400mm wide and the overall width including side brackets is about 438mm. The overall height of the brackets is 288mm. The depth of the shelf is 140mm and there is a retaining piece fixed to the front edge so things won't slide off when the boat rocks. The overall depth is about 146mm. There are two useful hooks on the lower fixing batten. It is made of 18mm thick pine board coated with Danish oil which creates a nice matt finish that is moisture resistant (but not waterproof). Natural pine and stained mid oak versions will be available in the current collection while stocks last.
Mr Shipshape says, "The trouble with narrowboats is that because the sides slope you can't just pop out and buy a shelf for just where you want to put your cup of tea. This is the solution! Adjust to fit your boat exactly."
