A signed, original piece of felt art.

Handmade in the UK.

SUNSET OVER HEATHER

This felt painting is choc full of texture and fibres. It has shades of red and white wool highlighted with Wensleydale locks, silk and shimmery Angelina fibres for the sky and a machine embroidered sunset.
Multiple shades of purple and green wools form the undulating Heather covered hills along with more machine embroidery.

Made using wool from our flock of North Country Mule Ewes (please see my about section for more information) along with Merino wool and silk fibres.

This picture was made by alternating many layers of wool then wet felting followed by needle felting and finally free motion embroidery. A technique that takes many hours.

This original signed felt art is presented in a white frame without glass.

Some of my work starts with a sketch and deliberate placement of fibres to create the image I had in mind.
Sometimes I just play with colour during the felting process. This is what happened here and for me the colours evoked moody sunsets and Moorland carpeted with late summer Heather.
