Description

An elegant hand-built porcelain vase with an ice-blue celadon glaze that is transparent where thin and pale blue where it has pooled in the texture and around the stamped raised hands. The bottom is unglazed white porcelain, flat so that it does not retain dishwasher water. The vase was made with a UK porcelain and, after biscuit firing and glazing the piece was fired to 1300C to make it impermeable and very durable. It measures approximately 21cm tall and 9cm wide and the base is impressed with my seal, the letter P, and its identity number 9853

Inspiration

This subdued vase is ideal for flower arranging or just for display. I want to engage with people by providing them with something thoughtfully handmade that fits easily into their domestic routine. There are dashes of brush-applied green-brown iron oxide to add an abstract visual interest. This vase pays homage to my interests in the graceful Chinese porcelains of the Song Dynasty and emanates calmness.
